I'm thinking about going to CVS today to get the Clear Blue ovulation test kit. Have any of you guys used them? What do you think about them?
They have a couple kinds. I'm thinking in the beginning on just getting the strips and seeing how it works and then maybe upgrading to the expensive monitor one.
I just used the strips. I think I got a 7day kit. Good luck!
BTW- It took me over 18 months to get pregnant and I now have twins! Don't know your situation, but hang in there. For me, the ovulation strips stressed me out BUT it is a good way of knowing A if you ovulate B when you ovulate and C if there is a pattern. I would do it for three-four months and see what establishes.
Roma - make sure to see your OB for pre-screening just to make sure that you're in good general reproductive health. That along with the ovulator kit should help you at you start this new journey!
I don't know how open you are to herbal medicine, but if you are worried about being regular and not ovulation (being a bit older) you can try to get on Vitex or some form of Vitex. I am sure you will be able to find it in your state at a health food store. It will help regulate you. Again, I am not a doctor, but you can read up on it on the internet.
I'm 41 and had a lot of problems with my periods. Vitex has helped and it may be an option for ladies who are older and want to stay 'fertile.' As you get older, it's harder to know when you are or aren't.
I used the thermometer - take your basal temperature deal. Cheaper and it works. And also lets you know what problems you may be having... if you're having any.
Roma-I was just at a book store and saw the new newsweek. It was about how they have finally proven that diet can effect fertility.I just skimmed the article, but I realized that alot of it was stuff that I do,and I had my kids at 40,43 and 47! It was about eating to promote ovulation, and avoiding certain foods that can inhibit ovulation. It certainly can't hurt! Anyway,I thought of you and thought I'd pass on the info.Good luck!
LOL GreenMachine... she has to spend some time with a man too!
I went to a website Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - FertilityFriend.com that someone suggested to me just to find out what the right time of the month is and it worked the first month. If you're worried about figuring out whether you are regular you can pay for the membership (I didn't but it isn't much) and use their symptom tracker and such. I might also get the strips right around the time they're saying you are ovulating, to make sure it matches.
hi Roma...I found this to be extremely helpful! I didn't get pregnant but not to any fault of the watch. It is a bit costly but really worth it. Here is the link
