Well, it is not what I hoped for, but due to high blood pressure, warning signs (though no diagnosis) of preeclampsia, and the fact that an induction with a preeclampsia diagnosis would be way more difficult, we have decided to go in Friday morning at 38 weeks for an induction. I am nervous about the process and what it means for my desire to have an unmedicated birth, but I'm feeling pretty confident that we've made the right decision. Besides, after the past three weeks of constant doctor's appointments, BPPs, non-stress tests, hospital labs and the spectre of induction looming it is good to have a decision made.

I am ready to meet my little one, even if I was hoping it would be a couple more weeks! Wish me luck!

I hope everything went well and you are holding your little one now! I ended up with an induction for my first of many of the same reasons.

We have a healthy baby boy, born Saturday morning after just barely 24 hours in the hospital. I ended up with several interventions I had been hoping to avoid, including an epidural when my blood pressure spiked so much that I was told I couldn't move during contractions and would need BP meds and magnesium. I'm so glad I prepared for a natural birth with a lot of research, because I was already familiar with the pros and cons of each intervention, so making those decisions was much less stressful than it otherwise would have been.

I did manage to go from 4cm to 8cm dilated without medication while on the Pitocin, so I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for that! Once I got the epidural I was able to get a couple hours of rest before it was time to push, and then it was less than an hour before baby arrived. I have no regrets about how everything went and I am thrilled with my happy little boy.

Thanks to all the posters who offered support and advice throughout my pregnancy as I worked through my concerns.
