It's just hard to compare players across different eras. What you're saying may be true, but to some extent, people's performance is raised by their own competition, so I think it's hard to dock Jim Brown for what may have been a lower caliber league then than today. He decimated the defenses that were his contemporaries; if you could take a time machine and transport an 18yo Jim Brown into today's high school game, he might do the same thing when he hit the NFL.

Totally agree and well said. Give the players of yesterday the same advantages guys have today, there is NO WAY they are any worse.
