Another of the old guard is leaving us. Chris had been one of the real mainstays of not just ESPN, but of sports broadcasting in general. He offered great insight into the NFL and covered brilliantly the game and the people who played it. Mort will be sorely missed.

Yep, totally agree. Losing the old guard in sports reporting is tough because I just don't see the reporting done now as anywhere close to what the Mort types accomplished.

That comes with time and experience. Writing off all younger sports reporters is a bit much.
