The Joe Flacco signing was posted on the Browns facebook yesterday, they said they were waiting 'til after the game to announce.
I think they intend to use him as a mentor more than anything, but, there is always the possibility of him playing at some point...
Not sure how I feel about that.
Either way, it's bound to be some help to the team.
From Yahoo sports:
Quote:
Flacco visited with the team and will reportedly sign with the practice squad with the expectation that he'll join the active roster, according to the report. Flacco joins the Browns after starting quarterback Deshaun Watson sustained a season-ending fracture to his throwing shoulder.
Flacco, 38, played 11 seasons with the Ravens before a one-year stint with the Denver Broncos and three seasons with the New York Jets. He quarterbacked the Ravens to a Super Bowl championship over the San Francisco 49ers following the 2012 season and earned Super Bowl MVP honors in the 34-31 win. He started four games for the Jets last season as a fill-in last and last played in an 11-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.

Makes sense, with a rookie quarterback and a third stringer left on the roster and a (**fingers crossed**) potential playoff appearance. I see this as a positive.

Not sure what happened yesterday but they all seemed a bit off. It was definitely a bad day. Looks like we may see Flacco before expected.
DTR looked a bit better yesterday before he went down, but it just seemed like we couldn't get going. Even our vaunted D looked a little pale. I understand Myles Garrett was fighting an injury.
But Dang! Jeremiah Owus-Koramoah really stepped up!
Cleveland.com had a good write up on yesterday's loss to the Rams.
Gave credit to Flacco for a good day (250+ yards, 2 TDs, 1 pick), and put most loss responsibility on the defense. The columnist (Pluto) advocates that Flacco should remain the starter (I agree).

Our vaunted D is plagued with injuries, and yes, has seemingly faltered of late. Flacco did well and may make a good stop gap until we are able to finally see what Watson has left in his tank.
Looks like the Browns let go PJ Walker but hasn't named Flacco the starting QB.
Meanwhile the Jags signed QB Nathan Rourke to their active roster. Maybe as a back up to CJ
Well, Flacco IS starting. and looking good as well, at least so far. The game is on the tube in my area, right now it's 13-zip Browns. Flacco has thrown 2 td passes. 13 minutes left in the first half.

And Flacco goes for 26-45-311, 3 touchdowns, 1 pick. Jaguars kept up with the pace but the Browns held on in the end. And they are now 8-5 for the season.
