On some sub-forums you're not supposed to discuss whether you rep someone or not. But do check your reputation comments. I gave you your wish.
One of my pet peeves is that people don't identify themselves in reputation comments nearly enough. Doing so is easy; right click the "Rate this Post positively" link and then fill in the box. I just accidentally clicked the post above this one when trying to copy it, so I gave an anonymous one by accident. Bad me!!!
Thanks ... I never knew there was a way to comment on them. I get comments on my reps but couldn’t figure out how to leave comments.

And sometimes they will leave nasty comments there. I have seen people talk about posters leaving hateful comments in the comment box.

Did you know that even though you cannot see the name of the person who left the comment (if they didn't type it in), the moderators can see it! You can report it, and the moderator will delete that comment and (if warranted) issue an infraction to the person who left it. You even get to keep the rep point after the deletion!
I have always thought it especially cowardly to leave anonymous, negative rep comments. In my years on City-Data, I have always signed my name if I have anything to say, positive or negative, open forum or rep comment or direct message. (Of course on the open forum or in a direct message we don't have any choice, hence the misuse of rep comments by some people).

Thanks for the heads up! I didn’t realize this was a thing. I have a few comments left from rep points. All of them are in the affirmative though. Do you just message a moderator about it? I’m not familiar with the rep comment reporting function.
Most I'd say are unknown reps I receive and I don't need to know from whom they come...sometimes they leave name and mostly do not. Forget them..accept the rep and let it go I say. I've received a few not glamours reps and I just let it go.

I just left you one. Check to see if you got it, and try with me.

I hit "forward" on those and send them to one of the mods or super-mods. And explain in the forward note what happened. They can track even if there's no name with it, I think.

I once got one with literally unprintable language.

If the rep was to an interesting post, sometimes I'll figure out who the repper is if they posted on the thread at abotu the same time. Usually I'm right.
I only read half the thread, and I am probably just echoing what others have already said, but a specific person - not here, on my FB feed - comes to mind. I ended up unfollowing her posts because they were so inflammatory that - and I am not a violent person by any means - but I just wanted to choke her through the computer screen. I can deal with differences in opinion, but this was just something else. I wonder why in the world I was ever friends with her in the first place.
If I were to try to psychoanalyze her and figure out why she does this, I would say that her posts reflect an enormous amount of deflection because, if she truly gave a good, honest look in the mirror, she would just hate what she sees and would have to admit that her station in life was and is 100% of her own doing. And I think that a good part of it is jealousy of others that have fared better in their lives than she. I'll give you some background. She was never happy with her weight or her looks save for her big chest, which she would flaunt to all the guys. If a guy liked me and I didn't like him back, she would be quick to snap him up. She'd screw other girls' boyfriends. She always had to have a guy in her life at all costs. She had three kids, the first when she was 16, and dropped out of high school. The grandmother had custody of the first and the ex-husband has custody of the younger two. She cheated on her former hubby with the current and had a fling with a boy toy while with this one. Her husbands have always been the ones supporting the family financially. She'd go on FB and vaguebook about how no one appreciates her and that everyone takes her for granted. I tried to be an ear for her, but it was clear that she didn't want to make changes to her life. And when I needed someone to talk to, it was always "I'll talk to you later"...and then nothing. She's a self-proclaimed genius and gourmet cook, and whatever else she tells herself because I guess no one else does. Anyone who disagrees with her political views is a moron or a baby-killer or words I won't even put here, censored even, because it's that bad. In her convoluted mind, her way is superior and anyone that lives or thinks differently is a walking piece of garbage. She posted something about health care that was chock full of judgmentalism, hypocrisy, and just an all-around lack of empathy and compassion for others. And she paints herself as a pious Christian on top of all that. If I would have foreseen this years ago, I would have crossed the street the second that I saw her coming. For the life of me, I must have had really low self-esteem or been desperate for friends.
TL; DR: Low self-esteem, deflection, lack of introspection, yadda yadda yadda.
