I'm sometimes amused how often people say things like, "I can't believe it's almost spring" or "Can you believe Christmas is next week already?" Just the other day, someone said on the radio, "I can't believe it's February 23rd already." I'm starting to feel like this is one of those things people say just to have something to say, and not because it's a legitimate sentiment. I mean, time goes by all the time, it's not that amazing. I know sometimes time passes so quickly that it seems like we just got through Christmas and it's here again, and yet in between we were marveling over how amazing it was that it was already summer!
Maybe time is passing by very quickly for them. Just a statement. Nothing to stress over.
I do this a lot but it’s because time really does seem to go frighteningly fast as you get older.
Years feel like months now.
A trip I went on exactly a year ago it’s crazy to me that it’s been a full year now. It seems like a few months ago.
When you’re younger 5-10 years seems like an eternity.
Now 5-10 years ago seems like a blink of an eye and you realize it’s it really that long ago as it seemed when you were young.

You got that right! That's why I've said a few times or so on this board that I wish the human lifespan was a whole LOT longer than the usual 69-79 yrs that most people seem to live to. I want it back to biblical times when people lived to be SEVERAL HUNDRED years old. But then, we don't know how time was calculated back then. It could have been a lot quicker before we determined that 1 day = 24 hrs, 1 week = 7 days, 30 days = 1 month, 1 year = 365 days. 365 days isn't that long.
Then, I know for me personally, time's zipped by since I was about 21, but as you get older, time goes by faster & faster & faster. I wish it would just go by like when we were 21 & that's the only speed it felt like.
It does seem to go faster and faster. It's so different from when you're young and time seems to stretch out endlessly into the future. I am trying to convey this to my young-adult children who are reluctant to start a school or training program because it will "take too long"--too long being four or five years. I tell them, first of all, in four or five years you are going to be just as old if you didn't do the program as if you had. And secondly, you'll be busy; the time will go fast!
At least, looking back, everything seems brief, no matter how long it was. The years I was raising small children seemed so long at the time, but now that they're well in the past, they seem brief. I'll have been married 27 years next month. Supposing something happened to my husband, I wouldn't be thinking--well, at least we had 27 years together. I'd be thinking, gosh, that was just not long enough. It was too short.
