Wut? How about an example of what you mean? It's possible all they're doing is thanking you for reading the message! Are these messages emails? It's also possible they use some sort of closing template (like an automatic default signature) a bit too often.
No one here knows your relative or the relationship you have with them. How could we guess? Feels like conclusions only you would jump to. You may be reading much more into this than there is.
