Transferring from assigned year round Middle to another year round (Salem: middle school, club)

Hi,

My daughter is entering Middle and we don't really like much the assigned year round middle school. We want to switch to Salem Middle for different reasons:
- Better ranked
- All her friends are going there.

So, in the application for transfer we are wondering what to mention as good reasons to request.

From what I have read one reason transfers are granted are if you are looking for a program offered by the new school that is not offered by the old one. For example Orchestra.

Is Salem you calendar option? I thought Salem was under enrolled? If you are trying to leave an overcrowded school that could work to your advantage.

Salem Middle parents - can you list a few activities, clubs, etc. in Salem that you don't find elsewhere?

I have already figured that they have Math, Robotics and Mock Trial clubs that are not in our assigned.

WCPSS is cracking down on transfers and it's usually called a hardship transfer. i don't think you'll get a transfer because of a program or club that you want. Those things can change year to year. I would come up with something like it's easier to get to Salem than your base school (I'm assuming Lufkin) or something like.
