no. they were not banned from collecting rent .

they couldn’t evict for non payment …but that applied to even non stabilized apartments as well.

newyork state over all including nyc saw about 17% fall behind on rent . so more then 80% were current

Distinction without a difference. If you are banned from replacing a nonpaying tenant with a paying one, you are effectively banned from collecting rent.

are you kidding ?.. banned from collecting rent is so far not the case .

if landlords were banned from collecting rent then 80% wouldn’t be paying them rent

having to wait to evict a non payer is certainly not the same as banned from collecting rent as 80% are collecting rent.

anytime one becomes a landlord you end up being subject everywhere to local laws and policy set under emergency conditions

When you make it illegal to refuse service to a nonpaying customer, you are being forced to sell the service to that customer without payment. This holds especially true in real estate, where you can only serve one customer at a time.

Tell me, what recourse do you have against a nonpaying tenant if you are not allowed to evict them?

Anytime you become a landlord you have an expectation that your right to do as you please with your own property will be respected.

"Emergency" conditions? Lol. Covid was far from an "emergency" other than the one your politicians manufactured for more power and control.

evictions are off the hook now there are so many .

it was only a case of waiting until they could start and courts are so back logged .
