Probably why I have never had it. If I want a sloppy sandwich I can do it on my own. But I get it helps some people to just open a can. And I am glad OP enjoyed his meal.

NOTE: If peppers (green, jalapeno, etc) give you a problem, remove the seeds and inner sections. Cuts the heat, while preserving the flavor.
(I roll, quarter, and use a spoon to scrape out the seed pod)

Yum, that sounds yummy!

I’d love to see it. I use one off the internet, called The Best Sloppy Joe Ever, or something like that, and it is darn good. The key component is ketchup, and even though dh hates ketchup, he likes them.

Now I want Sloppy Joes for dinner..

Mine uses ground meat, a little celery and onion, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar and I add a dash of liquid smoke. Very piquant.

But that BBQ sauce a lot of people really like, Sweet Baby Rays, is all you really need if you need a shortcut.
I like to chop onions and a little bell pepper into mine.

Other than BLTs I think Sloppy Joes are a great sandwich to eat with sweet corn. Now that we don't have such big appetites anymore we often eat them on slider buns. A couple of bites.

I use a nice Chili sauce and a bit of brown sugar for my homemade Sloppy Joe sandwiches, it gives it the perfect flavour in my opinion.

I brown the meat with dried onion flakes, salt & pepper and then drain the grease. I use 50/50 quality ketchup and Heinz Kansas City BBQ sauce (no fructose corn syrup). My kids loved it when I made that.

If I want it zesty I use 50/50 Melinda's habanero ketchup and Heinz KC BBQ, and oh man does that have zing.

Have not had sloppy joes in years. Now that I know Manwich sauce has corn syrup in it I'll be making my own from scratch.
