I am not surprised. I listen to a lot of audiobooks while I work on various creative projects, and some I have to discontinue because I can tell that the reader's rendition is not how I, myself, would read it. When I read anything, I bring to it my own interpretation of the words, in my own cadence. When I listened to this as a young girl still in high school, I thought it very compelling. Now, at 66 years, I thought it a bit "off."
