Consider this side though: my best friend is bipolar. He has never attempted suicide that I know of, but with his mental condition it is very possible that he could while in a manic or depressive state. Because of this mental illness he is not in his right mind...thus not making a decision he'd normally make when all the chemicals in his body are in balance. If he killed himself according to Catholics he'd go to hell.

like do you believe that someone who smokes and dies of lung cancer committed suicide did they consciously do it for that intent? no therefore although bad not suicide

Euthanasia is fine by me. If someone had a pet that was suffering unbearable pain and they refused to have it put down they would probably be branded as cruel. If the person in question is in a position to request termination of his/her own life I see no problem. If not, the decision should be made between the family and medical experts.
