I do thank all who gave me advice before moving to this area last year.

In my eyes, Reno is neither socially liberal, nor conservative; moderate, a mix of both.

I do like where I am living, but I must leave this state for California next year. I plan to attend school there. Yes, UNR offers most of the courses I plan to take; nonetheless, California offers the lifestyle, in addition to all the courses I want; I'll learn better in that environment.

Anyone wishing to know if Reno is okay, the answer is yes. I like Reno, and feel safe here. I ride my bike all over the valley, East, West, South, and Sparks; the terrain is mostly flat. Shopping here is good too, in Meadowood; the Sparks mall? Legends, is developing, but still new. There are lakes in both Reno and Sparks, the area is beautiful. Food markets are adequate: Save-Mart, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Scolari's, and Winco; they, are the larger markets; oh, I forgot about Wal-Stinking-Mart; sorry Sam, I don't like any of your stores.
There are also Target stores in Reno and Sparks. In the mostly Mexican markets, you'll find cheap, unhealthy foods; I shop, Trader Joe's, which is the opposite.

My favorite ethnic celebration is Cinco de Mayo (I am from Mexico); the Italian celebration is upcoming; yes, I speak Italian too. In Berkeley, I'll speak Mandarin again.

I recently traveled to SF in order to visit my mentor who feels the Bay Area will offer me a better, overall, environment for me than Reno, due to the number of tree-huggers living there, I am a tree-hugger too.

Now; I must deal with the cost of living there, and student loans.

.
Trader Joe is not healthy if you read the merch you will not see a healthy list of ingredients . All it is, is private lable junk fodd. loads of sodium, Sugar, Frutose, etc... Most of the merch is frozen, can and boxed food . Majority of their produce comes from 3rd world countries where we have no idea what there soil is like or what they are spraying it with.

We must all read labels carefully these days. I am a Co-Op member too. I stay far away from boxed food, and I'm very healthy. Summary: prepare as much as possible at home, read food labels, and steer clear of restaurants. My shopping trips end up in lightweight reusable sacks due to me wanting only a few items carried in TJ's or Whole Foods. In the Bay Area, some of the corner markets carry Tofu and grains. Reno is healthy enough on exercise, but it could do a lot better when it comes to availability of healthy foods. I like Marketón, and the like; but I can't shop those stores.

You asked this question two months ago? Are you in Santa Maria right now? Did you find good Mexican food there? Are you moving to Reno?
