I'm in logistics/inventory. Had a few calls but we're still out of state. We're planning on being down there, soon, unless we decide on Richmond (job market seems better but I get a better vibe about Roanoke).

How hard would it be to get a job with an agency, even for "low pay" when I get there? I've got warehouse, packing, shipping, and inventory experience. I never heard from the hospitals (my last job was in Hospital Inventory).

How hard is it to pick a job until I can get something a little better?

Thanks.

Hi NorthernSkysGuy,

We are in the process of moving to Roanoke so I can't speak from experience, but have you tried the companies on this list?

Roanoke - Major Employers

Best of luck!

The unemployment rate is not particularly high - so it may take a while to find the "PERFECT" job but I would not think it would be too difficult to get your foot in the door somewhere in Roanoke!

I see stats that say unemployment rate is 3.9% for Roanoke and 3.8% for Virginia as a whole. Richmond shows as 4.2%, and there are definitely areas that are difficult spots like Martinsville (not far from Roanoke) where it shows 7.0% (but was much higher some time ago).

GOOD LUCK!
