what would be your first choice in the Rochester area ? Let's say you're an artist or a writer and want to wake up to a great vista or view whether its a lake or "old country" spaces with rolling hills and lots of trees and streams...a place where "time stopped" but still close enough to services like Wegmans, etc? No subdivisions! Close neighbors! Tight spaces! One acre minimums. Where houses are affordable too and the taxes don't reflect the high cost of schools and infrastructure. I know there are areas much closer but the taxes and housing costs are much higher.
I feel like almost any town down in the finger lakes would fit that description...the closest in one would be Canandaigua (for the one+ acre you'd have to be in the town and not the city though).
Hope you have a fat wallet, and don't bank on finding anywhere in NY with desirable landscapes thinking taxes will be fair, or even "affordable" housing for that matter. Then again, affordable to me is 130k, whereas to you it might be 400k. Gotta pay to play, especially in good ol' NYS. Otherwise, I'd find me a nice home on Lake Ontario in either Greece, Hilton, or Webster.
Victor. I was at a friends newly built home up on a hill. Another friend has an "older" home (like 1980's) also in Victor. Both are on an Acre of property. Love it.
I would vote for either Sodus point or Pultneyville. I love Sodus point especially the old historic lighthouse and the pier. I don’t know too much about Pultneyville but you have to drive through it on your way to Sodus point and it seems like a nice little town. You would defiantly get nice country scenery and vistas of the lake in either of those towns.
