Because demand for the area is so hot. Recruiters have even completely backed out of markets like Charleston because of the interest in living there and the demand for jobs so high.
It's nice to see that fake profiles have to be created to answer this thread though!
I don't know what you're on....but I sure hope you don't plan on driving tonight.
It was made in jest. Suggesting that in the south (where remember, he has never lived) you have 6 weeks of hot/humid weather and then 46 weeks of beautiful weather.

Fake profile? What are you talking about? I've been on here for years. My husband has 3 companies in ROC that want him to join them. They've wanted him for years. He's done consulting work in the past for them and they know him. He hasn't done much in NC, but I do know other consultants who are in NC and all of them travel with their jobs elsewhere.

FYI...Charleston isn't in NC!
Not you. Pay attention.

Also rory it's obvious that the fake posts are lost on you. They aren't a "booster" trying to make up reasons why people should move back. They are Matt; trying to be witty and characterizing the reasons that people say they move back here has stupid and naive. "Pay Attention"
Back on point of the thread, my family of 4 (with 2 small kids) moved back from DC (technically South of the M-D Line) in 2009. Love being back in Rochester. Finding it a MUCH better quality-of-life than Washington, DC. Shorter commutes, less traffic, easier parking, lower house prices, bigger houses, friendlier people, access to natural resources (Lake and Parks), more culture, great food, great music, great theater, more community.. We especially love the walkable life-style in the Park Ave / East Ave area / NOTA / Wedge areas. All-around, love being back in Rochester.
Things we don't link: The state of Midtown, the negative attitudes online, the low self-image of the city (which mostly seems to be from people who have never lived anywhere else - ironically).

lol
Did you not go outside in DC at all?
Also, the negativity online from those that haven't lived anywhere else is just a share of the total. Most others are too busy having a good time elsewhere and don't have the time to waste posting on an upstate NY forum. I currently live in Rochester, so I have plenty of time to waste.
I heard when slaves came here on the underground railroad, they were so bored they turned around and went back down south.
