Moving to Sacramento later this year...

We have been looking at the various Internet Providers and Cable providers in the Sacramento area (Comcast, Surewest, AT&T U-Verse) and all seem to have positive and negative reviews.

We currently have Verizon FIOS (Fiber Optic) which gets us fast internet and HD TV.

Any thoughts or experiences as to which one is best? Fastest internet, best TV?

thanks

It depends on where you live in the Sacramento region. I've heard really good things about SureWest, but they do not provide service in all communities, like Folsom. I'm actually hearing a lot of online chatter from local people who are giving up their TV service and using Internet instead.

I use ATT/Uverse for Internet & cell phone. I don't have any significant problems with Internet speed or connectivity.

Surewest is the fastest but your community should be wired for it. I use it my self.

Log on to their webpages and see what they offer in your area. I don't have cable TV, so we watch everything through netflix and Hulu, which means we need something fast. FiOS isn't available, UVerse DSL only offers a pathetic 2 mbps connection. So it's between Comcast and Surewest, which are both ~$60-70 for a fast connection after the 12 month intro expires. I'm on Comcast, and will likely switch if they don't offer me something better. Comcast offers much more enticing intro rates than Surewest, but the Surewest connection is apparently more stable (they don't have gimmicks like "powerboost", etc.) Comcast tend to choke up the connection around peak hours when we're watching Netflix, which keeps us from getting HD, makes for slow loads, etc. (#firstworldproblem)
