No its not 9 months out of the year of constant rain and no your shoes won't get destroyed .
On normal years it will start raining in late October and continue threw the winter months until
may..Its not every day and its not all overcast like some would like you to believe..Sometimes it will
rain for a couple of days straight..Our rain is so easy to deal with and actually quite nice.
Sometimes in the winter you'll have clear and cold days..I for one think our weather is the best and I'm from
the other state (aka CA.).
So when you come up hear you buy a pair of boots to run around in when its raining..
Come see us you might like it...

It rains a lot sand it is cloudy a lot. Because it rains a lot, Oregon is built to deal with rain. Sidewalks are paved and often covered (local businesses have awnings). Downtown Salem has skyways.

I suppose that if you want to wear leather shoes and not weather seal them that they would be ruined quicker by the moisture. I never had any problems about my shoes when I lived in that area. I suggest that you allow your shoes to dry out between wearings.

Why do you have to move there? If you're a teenager and have to move with your family, the community college there is pretty good, and if you meet income guidelines, you'll be able to go for almost free soon.

Unless you're walking through puddles, or a wetland, you'll be fine with sneakers. That's what I wear (except during the summer when I'm almost exclusively in sandals or flip flops).
