So as a new homeowner in Salem I just received my first water bill. I noticed the curious $2.80 extra for a street light fee. I googled it and got the info. Just curious, who actually went to the public hearing on this? Did anyone actually agree to this?

Street lights aren't free. It is a service the city provides, much like storm water, water and sewer. There was something sent around about it several months ago, but other than that, I didn't pay any attention to it.
