Everybody has their own ideas of what good schools are and if they meet their expectations. Salem and Albany have comparable school systems and costs of living (both better than average for western Oregon). Corvallis is not the place for you to live. If you live in Salem, you could work anywhere from Wilsonville to Albany with a reasonable commute. There are plenty of areas there to live with decent schools such as south, west or Keizer. The good high schools are West, South, McNary and Sprague so plenty to choose from.

Agree, skip Corvallis. It does not have much affordable housing and the health care is not as good as in the Salem area.
