A week of vacationing in Park City for one person could tally up to $4,971, and a family of four can expect to pay around $12,632

A recent study by OptimosTravel has revealed that Park City, Utah, ranks as the second-most expensive vacation destination in the United States for 2024, with Aspen, Colorado, securing the top spot. This analysis, which surveyed over 100 well-known American vacation locations, assessed costs including meals, transportation, accommodations, and attraction fees.

Yes, it is pricey. The restaurants have NYC prices but Modesto quality.

It's only a matter of time before people start to go out of their comfort zone, take the plunge and head across the pond to Europe. You can combine great skiing, unbeatable vistas, and, for families, the opportunity to give your kids the opportunity to experience the best that Europe has to offer. All for less than or possibly equal to (if you decide to go large) the cost of the same old, same old US resorts.

And after living in PC most of 2022 and going to most of those restaurants I made a further discovery. Unlike NYC or even Modesto, there's a >50% chance that those restaurants either won't have an espresso machine or it will be broken.

As for the $4900/week, this is in line with other fancy ski towns. A couple years ago it was widely published that the AVERAGE daily expenditure at Vail was $700/person. It would be interesting to compare with Disneyland. Regardless, it's no surprise that ski resorts are playgrounds for the rich.
