In short:
While violent crime has decreased in San Antonio by 12.6% this year, crime was up overall by 1.5% through October, an increase that is largely “due to motor vehicle thefts".
According to data from SAPD, the number of vehicle thefts, or stolen cars, has doubled since 2021
The city’s “hot spot” policing plan has contributed to a more than 40% decrease in violent crime in hot spots this year.
Recent crime trends show that juveniles make up a large number of auto theft crimes in Bexar County.

If San Antonio is like many cities across the country, they've stopped or reduced prosecuting vehicle theft, so the numbers are sure to keep rising. Strange, since cars are typically valued in the 5-figure range, and that's not a small amount of money. Steal that much from a bank and watch how much leniency you are shown...

And don't forget - "crime" is reported per the PD/city edicts......Mayor calls Chief, says "We either need a reduction in crime, or a new chief."

Get 'er done......

Some members of the city council are too busy drinking and driving to care.

San Antonio city council members being arrested for DWI is nothing new either. Remember Kevin Wolff caught drunk in his underwear at whataburger a few years ago?

https://www.ahdatalytics.com/dashboa...er-comparison/

According to this dashboard, San Antonio's murder rate dropped 36% from 211 in 2022 to 136 in 2023. It's one of 28 American cities with over 100 homicides with Chicago having the most at 617.

As a whole, the country's murder rate dropped the most from one year to the next that it has in a long time. Nationwide murder rate for 2023 is about on par with 2016.

Cities like Chicago, NY, LA, Houston, Baltimore, Phoenix and Philly all saw a drop in murder while Dallas, Kansas City, Memphis and DC all saw an increase.
