Does anyone know about the history of the lake prior to the developer
taking over the area. Like maps that show the old lake or aerials of the
oak grove / towne lake area from say 1970-1980 era

I know a couple of people that live in there and they love the neighborhood. Sadly, Nacogdoches is pretty rough in that area with commercial/industrial/apartments dominating the surrounding area. It is gated and someone secluded from the surrounding areas though.

I know that area well. I grew up around there. The lake was dug-out and developed around 1984. Before that it was a wonderful little country place. There was a little old wood floored bar there with a shufflebard table. Older guys would go there to fish and they also had remote powered mini-boat races there. You could get there driving down a dirt road off of Nacogdoches. I roamed the creek and woods all around that area from los patios to McAllister Park. I remember it well. It was beautiful.
