I looked on Google Maps and the only supermarket nearby is Jensen's, which is south of the lake. Is there anywhere I can buy groceries north of the lake?

You have a Vons and Stater Bros in BigBear, if that helps.

Or, you could go to Victorville, but that's a bit of a haul. Especially when gas is $5/gallon...

Thank you for the replies. I thought there might be some secret mom & pop grocery store that's not listed on Google Maps, but that's wishful thinking :-).

Big Bear? That’s a looong drive for groceries. Lol

It's closer than Victorville, at the bottom of the hill.

It's the OP's problem if they're in a food desert. One would think that transportation might become a priority sooner or later.

"North" of Arrowhead is NOTHING, all the way to the desert floor. Zippo.

Just wait until they need medical treatment, then you'll see a real problem arise.

West, there's a little bit (very little.) East, there's BigBear. That's their only food option, realistically.

Wrightwood's got nuthin'

Newcomb's Ranch is "For Sale" so that's dead.

Like I said, a food desert.

Thanks to all the input here, we decided not to stay north of the lake. Yeah, being within a 30-min walking distance to a grocery store is a priority.
