Those stopped in the mid-50's unfortunately. I heard, that LA had a decent transit system back then, too, that ended or was cut back drastically.

I remember hearing about those trains on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge. In Los Angeles and the surrounding areas (some of them) we had the Red Electric but it stopped in 1963. Wikipedia calls it the Red Car, but we always called them the Red Electric. They were like the cars on Market Street that had the lines overhead with a pole attached for power.

There is a park in Seal Beach with an authentic Red Electric car. It is supposed to be a museum, but I've never found it open. I'm glad my parents took us to ride on it a few times, to downtown L.A. and actually Watts where there were tons of electronics and other shops where people would like to go and spend some time browsing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Electric

Trolleybuses, are you talking about? They didn't have tracks, but wheels like buses have?

There were trolleybus lines all over the East Bay, back when the Key Line trains were running, but those were removed, too.

This is not a good photo of the Red Electric car (i have a better one that I took but I can't seem to post photos here).

I think the reason it wasn't open whenever I went there is because it was being renovated. When I'm back in the area, I want to finally see the inside of the car. It sits next to the Seal Beach Library, which has a nice display (or did).

Wow, thanks for the info and links. I'm from LA originally, but I didn't know about this little museum.
Note that it's located on "Electric Avenue." Presumably that was once a Red Car route.

Yes, it was the end of the line! That's why they put the car there.

The car and library are set in a lovely park with mature trees. Seal Beach as you probably know is lovely. They have a bustling main street with shops and restaurants, and it's a couple blocks from the beach. I wouldn't mind living there actually, or close to it.
