It's my impression that The New Yorker does a far better job of delving into NY problems that San Francisco magazine does with SF problems.

I don't even know what you guys are trying to conclude with these broken arguments.

That in third world countries "everyone has a wall with an electric fence atop it" therefore personal responsibility is bad?

...or something?

If quakes were happening more often, some people here would insist that the "libs" were to blame.

No, they would claim the earthquakes weren't happening and it was just a conservative conspiracy theory.

But enough in SF are not "very personally responsible" to make it an issue. Also using data from areas over 20 miles away says nothing about those in SF itself.

It's fallen from favor from enough to have a negative impact.

I manage rentals in the East Bay and 54% of current tenants are SF expats... which is the highest percent the company has experienced since it was founded 40 years ago.

The reasons I hear are varied... too expensive and car break-ins top the list followed by not the environment for raising kids speaking to the open drug use...

None of the above means anything except to those that voted with their feet.

That said... the SF skyline is still a magical display of city lights from the East Bay... bar none for West Coast urban landscape...

this is from data.census.gov---and for 1-year estimates, only cities with 65,000+ population is included, which means most wealthy suburbs are excluded, not just those in your county.

I do however, have a 2022 county list of both the median hh income and the median 2-earner family income, notice the huge difference?

What the hell are you talking about? The numbers and percentages for SF proper are even higher than the Metro Area.

SF is the richest major city.

So much cope in this thread.

Salaries in the Bay are high because the cost of living is ridiculous. As soon as you adjust for cost-of-living South Bay stays number 1 but SF drops to 7. And yes, of course the education levels are high, because it's really difficult to stay long term if you're not partnered up with someone who also has an advanced degree. Even if you do it's no guarantee.

But everything is fine because you've exported your income inequality to Stockton, Tracy, and Modesto.

A:"There are problems"
B:"Everything is fine here. There are no problems. Everyone is rich."
A:"Yeah but x,y,z"
B:"You don't live here."
A:"Yeah, I left because of the problems you keep saying don't exist."

SF boosters take "What if gaslighting was a place" and says "hold my Fernet"
