Hello,
My husband and I moved to Sunnyvale (we are currently renting) a year ago and are looking to buy a house in the next few months. We are interested in the Cuesta Park area in Mountain View because we have a toddler and plan on having another baby soon and it looks like a family friendly neighborhood. I was wondering if anyone who has lived there could tell me what it is like - and most importantly, if there are places around that area that we should avoid. What do you think of the schools in the area?
Thanks!

Cuesta park is awesome! I think half the appeal is the mature trees and little town feel. You are close to El Camino and all things shopping. Plus it's just a couple minutes to jump on the freeway and be on your way. In the actual park there are a mommies groups that hang out around the playground, doggies are in the "bowl" by the tennis courts. It's a little hard to walk some parts because there aren't any sidewalks but there is not a ton of traffic either. There are two school districts in this area. Whisman is not a bad school district but if you can get in to Los Altos Union it's even better.
Lastly, prices are crazy low right now, if you call upper $700s low :-)

It's still almost impossible to get a house for under a million in Cuesta Park, even now. Looking on Redfin I see one house for $950K. It's the most desirable part of Mountain View, and for good reason. I drive through it often and I'm always envious.

People BID on homes in the Silicon Valley which is why the home inspection is conducted just before the house is listed for sale. The listing price is the opening by the seller and may well be below what the seller will accept. A single family dwelling listing for $950 my sell for substantially more.
