I suppose the moon has less gang activity. Maybe.
San Jose is one of the safest big cities in the country. I wouldn't worry too much about it, except for a few small neighborhoods here or there.

It used to be really bad like in 1992-2001. SJ has calmed down alot, the cops shut down the cruisng that would go on downtown. There's good and bad spots, and It still has people who maintain that ghetto mentality.. Alot of the Norte gangs are still there though. Quite a few moved away to places like Modesto, Tracy, Stockton, Sacramento. You can spot them by the red hats or jerseys (Nortenos 14). Or the (Surenos 13), who tend to where blue. Unfortunately,In some Latino families theres know one to guide these kids, and they get caught up in the streets. These parents need to get involved with there kids, if they there. And CA needs to put more focus on youth gang intervention.

The three consecutive posts toward which my response was directed have been deleted. I was not telling you to relax, nor am I troubled by reality.

There is some denial throughout Asian communities here that their kids aren't running in gangs, but there have been some territorial issues with Vietnamese, Filipino, and Japanese around the South Bay that end up with incidents on the news. So it's not just poor Latinos that get involved in this stuff.

That said, it's San Jose. A VERY safe city, considering 1,000,000 people live here.

Strongly agree. More prevention could lead to fewer jails.

Or, we'll be compelled to start answering the "How are the jails and prisons in your area?" forums.

Growing up in San Jose in the 80's I never saw any of this stuff. It was around, but going to School (High School) was fun and we didn't have those issues that they have now. I lived in the Evergreen area which was pretty undeveloped at the time, so it was real quiet.
