Hello People,
My wife and I will be moving to the Shoreline/Edmonds area at the beginning of March 2012. We were wondering if anyone who has lived in NY state Central NY to be exact could tell us about auto insurance rates. We are seniors with good driving records and right now we pay about $300 for 6 mos. that is full coverage with uninsured motorist and a $500 deductible.
Are the rates worse or better than NY? Remembering that car insurance in NY is one of the highest in the nation.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I think I remember that All For Cats is from NY but I am not sure. If you read this please respond. We are very excited about our move since we both have lived by the ocean for a short time.
We can't wait to get there and start living the Seattle life.

All I know is that when we moved from Massachusetts to Texas, our rates went up by about 200 bucks/yr. We then moved to the Snoqualmie area, and they went up another 400/yr. Not sure how MA rates compare to NY, but that's about 600/yr more just between MA and Snoqualmie, WA. By the way, Northbend was even more ridiculous (I think another 100/yr just for 5 miles down the road).

We moved from CA and found the auto insurance to be about 20% less here

Thanx all for the quick replies and I guess the best answer is to just get a quote from my insurance carrier once we have an address.

I'm moving from Texas to Washington next April and according to my agent, my insurance will be going down only slightly. I don't know if it still is, but at one point Harris county (where Houston is located) had the highest auto insurance rates in the country.

Hmmm San Antonio must have had really low rates, because mine skyrocketed out here.
