I have eaten many a burger at XXX Rootbeer in Issaquah since 1993 when we mover here, under the previous owner, and were excited when Jose bought it in 1999 and made it into the Sunday car show hangout that we've loved since.

At least it's not inflation, lack of workers or customers. Jose just decided to retire at age 79, and I can't really blame him. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the place, if someone else carries on the tradition, or it gets bulldozed for condos.

What a shame, but thanks to Jose and his workers for many great memories. I've taken many out of town (and overseas) visitors there for a huge burger and sensory overload. I too hope that somebody acquires the Triple XXX and keeps it going.

Yes, it was fantastic, the only kind I like better than A & W. The rootbeer floats were to die for. Sorry you missed it!

You do know that 'they" took out the root in the late 60's-early 70's. It was something I noticed in my food science days. Previously sassafras was a GRAS ingredient, and then some one (probably a drug company) did animal investigation and discovered a ld50 value.

Oh, wow. We went there twice, after Dr. appointments in Issaquah. The food was good & the root beer was delicious! They were really busy but very nice people. I’m glad we got to experience it.
