I'm not sure there will be a "right" place to be...I say the best thing to do is just prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I also do not think it will be only one senario playing out, but several over the coarse of the year 2012. And as far as receiving a warm welcome in this forum, I'm not really worried about it because I like to hear others perspectives on things (even if I don't agree) and i like to give others something to think about! And yes, we may all be crazy, but if we're not then at least we were prepared!
In 2012 we are supposed to have an Earth eclipse and scientist aren't sure what effect this will have on humanity because the sun won't be able to block out atmosphere particles like normally does
The magnetic field, not the sun , but yes, scientists can only speculate (to the limited extend of human scientific knowledge) because this will be the first time the modern civilization will be facing such events.

YES IndigoLight! You have done your homework...Very Good! I also was meaning to let everyone know, if they are interested, there will be a docudrama on the "super-volcano" on Discovery on Sunday... Should be interesting theories...

Thanks for letting us know
I watched a British movie last year (don't recall the name) about Yellow Stone super volcano erupting, they did a great job using existing scientific evidence and the film came out good and wasn't cheesy (like many disaster movies are ).
I more or less lived a life of doing this stuff, been laffed at all the time. My x used to be in the top 10 when we were hitched. Then after, in the next time she took a trip and ended up creating a soup kitchen in some hurricane on Nantucket.
Now just to show you I have no luck, she took the car on the ferry, which could have capsized, then the waves on beach nearly took the cliff behind the house to the point of taking the house too, but didn't, Then because she was the only one it seems that could get a fire going at all, she ate, others ate and no one died of food posioning. She went swiming with her new Bo and neither of themn drowned in the surf, SO it should be just plain, I got no luck
So while I know lots of plants to eat start fire with a bow drill, what ever happen on or before 2012 won't make much difference to me.

Yeah I think I saw that, too! I forget the scientific terms used, but basically they are expecting pressure to build and for it to explode instead of erupting. They said the last time it happened, they found pieces of the explosion 18 miles away, not to mention dust particles they found states away...

don't look at it that way,Mac_Muz. Just believe in Karma. Karma may not happen when you want it to, or in the way you want it to, but it will happen. Have faith in Cosmic Law and Quantum Physics. Yes, everyone may laugh at people who "think outside the box" but all that matters is who will be having the Last Laugh! Enjoy life, and don't give up!

I'm sorry, I ment it created a crater 18 miles away...I've read so much stuff I get mistaken every now and then!
