They have charged us for 3 x rated movies that we did not order.

One was ordered on 10/04 at 3:30am. The same exact one was ordered on 11/04 at 3:30am. Seems a bit odd, don't ya think?

The next was some other random one on 11/04 at 5:00am.

FIRST of all, I am asleep at those times. SECOND of all, my BF was either at work or also sleeping at those times (Oct he was working nights, so he would have been at work). THIRD of all....why would I order 2 of the exact same movies, on the exact same date one month apart, at the exact same time? And we have no pets that would randomly press buttons to get to on demand and order anything.

I called them to get those credited back to our account ($40), they said they couldn't do it! They said there is absolutely no way for those to be ordered except from our remote to our TV. That is all well and good, but then how did they get there? If we had ordered porn....we would have watched it! We would admit it!

I informed that that most of my apt complex had Moderator cut: City-Data is not the place for consumer complaints. , and asked if there was any possibility of something happening that would get these movies ordered to our account. Her answer was a plain no. I think someone, somewhere, could figure out how to do that.

So we went in circles for quite some time. I always try to be polite when dealing with service people, because I know how cruddy their job must be sometimes....but DON'T sit there and tell me there is nothing you can do about these charges we did NOT put on our account! I got so angry with her for doing nothing to help me except tell me that someone in our home ordered those movies. No offer to have someone look into our box and make sure it wasn't being split, no offer to see if there was a neighbor hacking into our line....nothing.

Anyways, after a LOT of complaining, I got 2 of 3 taken off. BUT, they said the only way to block X movies is to use parental controls...but if it isn't US ordering it (and we have no overnight guests), what is to stop this from happening again? So there was no way to 100% block this from happening again, in my opinion. When I asked if something could be written in my account so that if this DOES happen again, they can research it, she said no. Blah.

I hate Moderator cut: Removed Company name . I have ever since I ordered the NFL channel specifically to watch San Diego Chargers game, was told we would at least get football games (maybe not the Chargers, but that they show a ton of games each Sunday), and have come to find out that the NFL channel does not show a single game....just scores and stats.

Anyways, don't get Moderator cut: Removed Company name .. They suck. I can't wait to switch.

Hmm, I just had an internet problem for almost two weeks of my signal dropping and they were more than willing with their help. I got a few freebies also. I can't complain.

At least they took off two of the movies that someone ordered. They could have refused to do that.

When I was younger, a friend and I used to play a practical joke on his neighbor and turn his TV off while he was watching it. My friend and his neighbor had the same brand of television, so we'd just take the remote, point it at the TV through the window and turn it off...

Could possibly be the same thing happening. The dates being the same are kind of suspicious, but having an idea of how PPV works, I'd say it's unlikely to be anything but an accounting error or someone pranking you like we pranked my friend's neighbor, and if it was an accounting error, it probably would have happened on a larger scale than just one customer (but it's possible, of course).

You should use the parental controls, regardless. It's not much work to set it up, and if it's someone screwing around with you through the window, it'll stop them cold.

I think the reason why you can't get money back is that your cable company is on the hook for that charge for those on-demand movies. So, they already have sent XYZ porn productions your on-demand fee. Just a guess.

If it happens again, I would do one of the following:
- Demand to switch cable boxes (it might be a weird glitch with the box)
- if it happens again after that, switch companies
- if it happens again, check where your BF is at 330 in the morning

Hahaha awesome.

Do you guys have a DVR? Could it have been possible for anyone to have set it to record with the intent to watch it later? If not, that's super weird I would definitely see about switching cable boxes or companies.

Maybe the cat is watching some porn while you're asleep.

I had the same problem until I moved that pesky cable box out of my teen sons bedroom!! I guess he thought I would actually believe "Debbie Does Dallas" was a travel special.
