I've thought about coming to Shreveport for college, but it looks real trashy. I don't like it very much. Is it really that bad? Here is a video from Yotube shot around downtown Shreveport.

Is Baton Rouge cleaner?

That video is of downtown Shreveport, and a lot of those buildings are old.

Default Daniel

Go to the citydata.com home page, click on Louisiana, and click on Shreveport. It will give you all the statistics. Look at population, racial demographics, and crime stats. Then think about it.

Wow, lots of Shreveport bashing going on here.

Crime in Shreveport is lower than New Orleans AND Baton Rouge (including PRE-Katrina Baton Rouge) and the roads are much better than those in south Louisiana. Comparing the quality of life between New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport, Shreveport wins hands-down. The air quality is another area where Shreveport is superior to Louisiana's other two larger cities.

Daniel, if you were *really* looking to go to college in Shreveport, why would you look to BoobTube for info?

Default hi

the reason I looked at youtube, is because you can get a real sense of a city good and bad. So far, all you here about at any website, is how bad Shreveport is. From racism, crime, decay, drop out rate...... It goes on and on.

I have always had a fascination with the south. originally wanted to move to N.O then it was basically destroyed by Katrina. Then I thought about Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Alexandria, and Shreveport. But, everyone keeps talking about how bad Louisiana is!!! It can't be that bad can it?? I really love the southern culture, bayou stuff.

Thanks.

Default Hi

When I said destroyed, I didn't mean literally. I just meant that most of the city is practically trashed now due to the hurricane. Is Lake Charles or Monroe nice? What about Houma or Nachitoches? Thanks.
