I am looking to relocate to Sioux Falls, and I am inquiring about the climate for healthcare in your community. I presently live in WA state and medical services are very expensive. I had previously lived in Ohio and overall dental services and outpatient services were half as expensive in Ohio compared to WA state. It is very difficult to see a primary care provider on the Olympic Pennisula in WA state; 3 months for an initial appointment. Just to provide some context, I see a primary care provider once a year for routine medications, and I see a dentist every 6 months merely for dental cleanings. Thank you for your comments in advance.

sanford is the biggest health network in the area. Can't say I have any experience with them but seems pretty good.
Others should chime in.

You sure about handling the snow and cold?

Should be cheaper overall.
Best of luck to you

You shouldn't have to wait 3 months to make an appointment with a primary care provider out here. Generally it should only be a few days to a week. Specialists it can be a month or so to get an appointment. Sanford and Avera are both rather large institutions out here.

I don't really know how to compare prices. The insurance takes care of that and I just pay up to my deductible.

It's easy to see a primary care provider, but your pcp may well be just a Physicians Assistant, not an actual MD. And as for specialists - I tried to make an appointment to see a dermatologist and learned that it would take up to 5 months to get in to see one in the entire Sioux Falls to Yankton region. So I drove down to Sioux City, IA and saw a derm who has a walk-in clinic; it is out of area so I had to pay cash. Yes, it was skin cancer (all gone now, thankfully.)
