Many smaller municipalities gained modestly. Some lost, but not by as much as before.
North Charleston is North Charleston. USC's increased enrollment helped boost Columbia. Charleston continues to gain despite gentrification. Mount Pleasant's moratorium must be taking effect. Myrtle Beach may be taking a little breather compared to before, because its MSA gain was less than it has been. Most of the Rock Hill area's suburban Charlotte gains must be occurring outside the RH city limits.

No particular order, just random cities you decided to pick right? I was looking for Florence
Fort Mill (+2,726) at 8.8%. 7th fastest growing place in the US. It's about to be "larger" than Spartanburg and Myrtle Beach. Our annexation laws are a joke. Fort Mill is clearly pure suburban sprawl of Charlotte.

I did the largest in order of numerical gain and didn’t delve that much into suburban growth. Rock Hill was iffy in that regard, North Charleston and Mount Pleasant as well. I didn’t do Summerville. I didn’t do Anderson, but more because I just didn’t go further down the food chain so to speak. I didn’t think about Florence, Sumter or Aiken, or maybe I did but then where would I stop. I apologize. Plus, I had a very limited amount of time to leave for a funeral.

Wow.. Never thought I would live to see the day that Mt P got over 100k....So unless I die in the next five years.. It will likely happen

The town has placed a moratorium on development. The small gain might reflect that. Awendaw is fussing. The tons of apartments wrapping up construction in West Ashley and many of the apartments built recently on the penisula and on Johns Island weren't counted as of 7/1/2023. Maybe a lot of would-be new Mount Pleasanters are moving into those.

It's killing Greenville.
