Not sure if this is too controversial to discuss on here. If so, our buddy can delete it.
But what do you think about #11? Are you voting Yes or No?
I'm voting no. I just can't accept the Government getting more and more control in this "free" country. I wouldn't have one myself, but I think it should be a decision between the woman, her family, or her doctor. Not Government officials.
I consider myself a pretty open person and I don't include religion in politics, but I am going to vote YES. I think abortion is murder, I also think the death penalty is murder (we've discussed this before), and I believe gay marriage should be allowed by the state and if a Church won't allow it that is up to them and their doctrine and it must be respected.
I agree on gay marriage. I think if a couple wants to get married, they should be able to do so at the courthouse, or by anyone that doesn't find it religiously wrong. It is a contract, it should be considered a legal binding contract. Not all marriage happens, to be recognized by they eyes of God.
A friend of mine had a really good point: No matter what side you're on (he said) we're probably the closest to truly taking the state's temperature on how it feels about abortion, as a whole.
I guess, if you do enough initiatives, you get it "right" eventually.
I dunno. I'm still thinking about it. Wasn't it four years ago that we voted on it? The national news did say that the country would be watching to see how this vote turns out.
Where I'm torn is that I have NO idea when life actually starts. Maybe at conception, maybe not. I honestly don't know.
No on 11. Read the measure and see if the exceptions REALLY are exceptions. In the larger context, I'd vote no even if the exceptions were not as draconian as they appear. The decision is uniquely individual and between a woman, a man, and their personal religious beliefs.
I'll be voting No on 11. Just my opinion/belief...each to their own.
Even if this did pass, it faces the Supreme Court and multiple hurdles... Plus a lot of court costs and such.
