I got roped into assisting my daughters flag football team at the local YMCA. The season has just started, and Thursday will be our second practice. I know how to play football, but I have never coached and haven't played any organized football since before high school many years ago.
The head coach will be gone Thursday due to a previously planned event, and we do not have any kind of schedule plan yet. This is for 8- to 14-year-olds so I am just looking for somethings I can do with them for practice for the one evening for an hour.
Basic Skills, Mainly Catching, Running Patterns,
I assume maybe stand up blocking
And of course, getting to the ball carrier.
I found when I coached Flag Football back in the 19th Century, before the game was even invented, it was best to teach each player basic passing, catching, and ball carrying skills. I used to have the players also run patterns, so as to throw off defenders.
