The fianc'e and I will be spending the first week of June in Branson - we have a free timeshare at the Marriott downtown.
We would like a combination of shows / food / nightlife / and hiking and outdoors stuff. What should we do? What should we avoid?
We are in the 30 year old category, if that helps.
This will be our first trip to Missouri.
Thanks!!

My wife Loved the Branson Belle. We also spent the day at Shepard of the Hills, went to Sons of the Pioneers Show and Diner there on the grounds and the Shepard of the Hills Play that night.

Some may like it But we didn't like Silver Dollar City.

I say Dixie Stampede is a must! It is dinner and a great show. Branson is also notorious for Silver Dollar City. You can look both these places up online. I also like Ride the Ducks, it is about $20.00 a ticket which takes you on a tour down by the damn in an old military vehicle that also is a boat, you go into the lake too. It is fun! There is also a lot you can do on The Branson Landing...shopping, dining, another ride the ducks tour and a yacht/dinner ride. I love visiting Branson!!! Have Fun!!!

Duck boats are cool they had them in Boston too. We live close to the Shepard of the hills place they have a cool tower there. I ain't sure if you can go up it but it does look nice.

For hiking and outdoor trails, you might enjoy spending some time at Dogwood Canyon.

For shows, I'd think you'd like the Haygoods and Six.

Food...depends what you like. Do you want a buffet or the best sushi?

For nightlife, which I guess means after the shows, there's only a couple of options other than the Landing...most of us old folks are in bed by dark.

For outdoors stuff I'd heartily recommend Table Rock Lake. But don't forget to take a lake map with you...it's a big place and easy to get lost! http://www.visittablerocklake.com/

Shepherd of the Hills is cool and yes, you can go up in the tower. http://www.oldmatt.com/
As a matter of fact, you should read the book before you visit...to really get a bit 'o the history of these hills...
That's a good idea.

Yes on Dixie Stampede...and the ducks. It's a really neat tour.

Have fun...depending on the weather you might enjoy some of the many go cart tracks...oh, and White Water!

(Oh, and I think Dogwood Canyon is closed, btw.)

Also...I think a ride down to the dam yourself is a must. There is a few lookout spots near by. The fish hatchery is by the dam too, it is free and gives you a nice view of the massive size of the dam wall. I also enjoyed the Titanic museum and the Darren Romeo show. I try to add one or two new things every time I go. But we always get season passes to Silver Dollar City and that can take up a day easy.
