I received a private message extolling the merits of Saint George as a retirement place. I did not consider Utah, and I know next to nothing about that state!

We originally considered various high elevation places in New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado, states both my wife and myself are familiar with. After a few months, we decided in favor of the Black Forest area of Colorado Springs. I have an agent looking for me right now in that area, but I have not bought anything there yet, and I am not retiring for another 16 months, so there is still time for us to reconsider. I am going back to Colorado Springs in a couple of months, and could visit Utah on the same trip.

Our needs/wishes are as follow:

1. My wife will still be working for a few more years, and she needs high speed Internet access for her work. She also needs to be within easy access of a major airport.
2. House preferably under twenty years old, around 2500 square feet, and in a treed lot of 1 acre minimum.
3. No bylaws against having dogs, at least up to six.
4. Gun friendly state/locality, with possibility hunting or/and fishing.
5. Preferably in, or close to hilly terrain or mountains
6. Place where we are not snowed in during the winter, at least not more than a couple of days at a time.
7. A place where temperatures stay below 100 degrees in summer.
8. The area's housing must be cheaper than San Diego.

Would St George offer what we are looking for? Any other place in Utah?

Hi JLC--

If not St. George, possibly Cedar City? Probably the only reason I mention that is that the temperatures will commonly be above 100 in St. George during the summer.
