Well, how about it, folks? For a late afternoon departure from STL airport next Sunday, which might be the better routing between I70-I270-I465-I69 and I55-I80-I94-I69? As I've never driven to anywhere out of St. Louis, part of me is attracted to the I70-I270-I465-I69 route simply because I get to avoid some of the madness that is driving on I94 through Chicagoland. Now, having lived in Chicago before, I'm somewhat familiar with the Interstates there, so that might be an advantage, but I'm more interested in having a comparatively stress-free and incident-free drive if at all possible.

Is one routing significantly faster than the other? Are there any major construction issues about which I should be aware? Any notorious speed traps about which I should be concerned? Thank you very much in advance for any advice you may wish to offer!

You definitely want to take I-170 to I-270 to I-70 out of St Louis. I assume taking 70 to Indy would be the fastest way to Lansing, but I've never driven past Indy myself.

I used to see speed traps around Effingham but it's been a few years, and I think that was mostly on I-57.
