With a wide range of advantages, the Crosstrek beats the HR-V.

In this 2023 Honda HR-V vs. 2023 Subaru Crosstrek crossover SUV comparison, the 2023 Crosstrek has most of the advantages. This includes advantages for maximum horsepower, gas mileage, towing, off-road capabilities, safety, and passenger space. Conversely, the 2023 HR-V has advantages for base engine horsepower and cargo space.

In comparison, the starting price of the 2023 Crosstrek ranges from $23,645 MSRP for the Base trim up to $36,845 MSRP for the Hybrid trim
The article leaves out an important fact. Manual Transmission stopped being offered by Honda for the HR-V after 2018 while it is still available for the Crosstrek for the Base and Premium trim with the 2.0 liter engine. Some buyers desperately want to avoid CVT and with the HR-V that is not an option.

The price comparison is also misleading as it implies that the starting MSRP for the two models differs by only $5. However, the $23,650 for the LX trim of the HR-V is for 2 wheel drive, while the $23,645 for the Crosstrek is for 6 speed manual transmission.

The MSRP of $27,995 is the 2023 Sport trim of the Crosstrek which is the highest trim comparable to what is offered by Honda for the HR-V. The comparison point would be $28,950 MSRP for the EX-L trim with AWD.

The Limited trim for the Crosstrek $29,495 and the hybrid $36,845 do not have an equivalent offering for the HR-V.
