I think first you need to decide what size you want.
I have a 7 inch Nexus 7. I would not buy a 10 inch but I have had someone brag to me about his 10 inch as though that makes it better. You must consider how you will use it. A 7 inch fits in a pocket, a 10 inch does not. I walk down the street with the tablet in my pocket listening to audiobooks all of the time. I would not think about buying a 10 inch or bigger.
But it is about how you use it.
The problem with my Nexus 7 is that it is the old 8 gig model and does not have a microSD slot. 16 gig would not be much better though. A microSD slot would mean I could have music and videos and data all on separate cards and no problem with running out of space.
I am keeping an eye on the Hyundai T7s. It is mostly like the Nexus 7 with a rear camera and a microSD slot and under $200. Not too much info on durability and reliability yet. The battery may not last the 8 hours of the Nexus either, more like 5.
