I purchased a 7" Fire ($50) for each of my young kids with Moko case to provide protection and carrying. It is tied to the Amazon ecosystem and it has ads on the lock screen which can be disabled at an additional cost. So far, so good... my kids could care less about the ads. They have survived the abuse of 3 year olds and they've figured out the basics of working them. Screen is lesser quality than the typical Apple iPads and Samsung tablets but that is expected at a price that is a fraction of those tablets. The app that controls kid content is crap... more of a pain than it was worth... so we just keep an eye on their usage ourselves. Other than that, not much to complain about considering how little I spent on them.

More specific questions and which Amazon fire tablet you are interested in would be helpful for better answers.

I got one of these for my mom when they were $40 at Best Buy. I think the regular price is $50. I thought it was pretty good for a $40/50 tablet. If you just want to use your email, facebook, web browser, play games, and read ebooks, it would probably be fine for you.

I purchased a Fire tablet for my 4yo, last Xmas. She likes it and it's pretty easy to use. HOWEVER, 8GB of storage is not even close to being sufficient for moderate app and video usage. I'm constantly deleting unused apps to free up storage. If it had expandable storage, that would make this a non-issue.

Look it up on Amazon. Select a model and at the bottom of the page you should have consumer comments. try

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...d_i=6669703011

You have to scroll for awhile to get to the comments.

Mine only came with a 90 day warranty. Wouldn't take a charge on day 91. Obviously I'll never buy another one.

You mean to say that Amazon won't honor warranty for 1 day. I can't believe that.

Their customer service is great

I got the new Fire HD 8, it's really nice. I use it mostly to read kindle books but have twitter, facebook and some other apps on it, as well as the default Amazon browser, Silk.

I bought one as a present. It lasted a year or two before it went black one day.
