I wanted to give everyone an update on my mom's Kindle - she loves it and is currently reading The Lovely Bones which she says is really good. She says reading on it is just fine and hasn't had any problems but hinted that the larger DX model might have been better for her just because it's got a larger screen so I'm planning on getting her the DX for her birthday this year and then 'adopting' the smaller one for myself!!!
I want an e-reader, but I haven't gotten one for several reasons.
1. I refuse to pay the (now) $15 fee for a book that I can get for half that as a hard copy
2. I refuse to buy something that Amazon can access and delete whenever they feel like it
3. I refuse to pay that price - I'm waiting on Asus's ebook to come out this year. It's supposed to be less than $200.

Reason: changed fee to price for easier comprehension

???
The Kindle price for every book I have bought has been LESS than the hard copy (on amazon or at the store).
As long as it's on your device, how is someone gonna delete it?

What fee? I don't pay any fee.
1. As of last weekend, book prices on many books will be higher. Amazon.com bows to pricing demands from Macmillan - Computerworld Blogs (http://blogs.computerworld.com/15515/amazon_com_bows_to_pricing_demands_from_macmillan - broken link)
Just got one too as a christmas present. Love it so far. I noticed the battery bars seem to go down pretty fast - anyone else have this problem? Other than that its very easy to use and read!
Turn off the wireless. Only turn it on when you need to shop in the Kindle store. The battery will last for weeks with the wireless off.
Keep an eye on the freebie forum, free book offers for Kindle are beginning to show up more and more. I really would like to get my 20 year old daughter one. She is a big reader and would love it.
