I had St Johns and they had the lowest rate when I first purchased my home. When it was time to renew they jacked up the price so I dropped them.

Find an insurance broker. I can recommend Adcock Insurance in Tampa. They have always done me well. Contrary to popular belief, several companies write policies in Florida as long as you are not in a flood plain or right on the coast.

Allstate has a subsidiary that writes homeowner's insurance, and it's very competitive.

Consumer HomeOwners' Insurance Comparison Electronic System (CHOICES) . These underwriters do not write policies directly...you will need a broker. Also not to sound dismal, but you are looking for homeowner insurance at the worst time of the year (hurricane season). The age of the house and where it's located to include your credit score will also factor in the price so get ready for a shock. Mine went up the past 2 years due to auto accident claims - so crazy. Sorry! I will PM you the contact info for a guy I've worked with that's been the cheapest I've ever heard of.
I also noticed you are new here. Please use the forum search function and read some of the older threads about homeowners insurance.
P.S. I have Castle Key but my house is in Hillsborough County (Tampa).
