I want to know if people think there are any cultural differences between the 20-40 year old demographic of people who reside in South Florida compared to Tampa. I'm talking about social circumstances as far as partying, bars, hanging out with friends, dating, relationships, etc ????

This might depend on what part of So Fla you're talking about, but I'll go with Miami.

The Miami scene is all about "being seen" and is vastly different than the Tampa Bay scene.

I'd compare Tampa Bay to Atlanta...I've even heard TB referred to as "Atlanta with a beach."

Miami is more like like LA in some ways, minus the celebs.

Both have their drinking and drug issues. I'd say in Tampa Bay you're more apt to go out to sporting events, bars, and parties as a group where in Miami you may just go to clubs with dates or to try to pick up on someone. Ft. Lauderdale is all about what car you pull up to the club in. And St. Pete is all about how many tattoos you have and what fixed gear bike you pull up to the bar on.

Miami is for people that try too hard and have the means to do it.

Tampa is for people who try too hard and don't have the means to do it... which is why they are in Tampa and not Miami.

Yes; like night and day. You should visit both. South Florida is very Hispanic if I can put it that way, so the vibe is entirely different than here in Tampa where everyone is from NY and Ohio. Like I said: night and day, apples and oranges.

I think an apt comparison would be that Tampa is a blue collar working town and Miami is a fake city where everyone tries to be something they're not.

hahaha, too funny-"Miami is a fake city where everyone tries to be something they're not".
No it is who they are,,, what I noticed here, is it the college crowd goes out to get drunk,,, flat drunk- in Miami it's about the bling looking nice and hanging around folks with some $ and class. IT is a different mindset all around. I dress nice 24-7 even to walmart.. it is who I am, but the transplants cannot identify themselves with that because they dont get it. The "transplants" are FAKE-when they are not in their envirorment and they fall in all all circles, so don't go there. Tampa is very toned down for " partyng" limited and sectioned. In Miami everybody parties together be in thier 60's/ 20's hispanic, black, white, foreign, male, female n all in between. Clubs have hip hop on one side and salsa in another, its 100% multicultural. You can go to a Jamaican fest and be just as comfortable, as in a latin club or at roundup in Davie watching folks line dancing in a circle. One thing to keep in mind, is Miami is a world wide tourist attraction, even more so than Tampa- totally different level... and I am going there next week for my birthday- to enjoy my style of a good time.

Tampa has less bling and fake tans. And far less hair gel.

Main difference between Tampa and Miami is Money

There is actual money in Miami while in Tampa its make it or fake it....hence the haterism going on in this thread
