Greetings CD Family,

I am currently teaching in Florida and I am considering moving to Jacksonville. School is about to begin and I realize that I need a change of scenery, I am hoping to get information on how to begin the process of visiting the area, schools to apply to and areas to live in. I am being proactive as I don't plan to make the move until next year however I do plan to visit during breaks throughout the year. I am certified in Reading, ESE, ESOL, Ed Leadership and HOUSSED in Elementary Ed K-6. I prefer middle or high schools. I have worked in all types of schools from Title 1 to schools that are very well off so I am versatile. I am essentially wanting to know how to begin the application process and what I should look for when I visit as well as the schools that have poor reputations. Any help is appreciated, and anything that would be helpful as I prepare for this new endeavor.

P.S. I really think this forum is a great benefit and am really glad to be able to come here for information

I am so sorry that so many folks have viewed your post but failed to respond. I would suggest that you check with the Duvall School Board and begin the process there. If you are already teaching in Florida then you are ahead of the game. Check the district website and begin looking at the level you wish to teach and research the schools, then when you come to visit drive by the area for a look. As for housing I would check with some of the local relators they would have listings and some insight on safer areas although I am unsure of how much they can disclose. You can also check with the local police department for the crime stats and safest areas. Good luck Girlsunshine, I hope you bring some of your sunshine to our little corner of the world !

They probably are unable to help her. In this forum teachers are from all over the country, the chances of running into one from that specific city are somewhat low. Questions about a particular school district are best asked in the forum dedicated to that location, so OP might want to try asking this question in the Jacksonville or even Florida forum.
