A tornado is cool, and it doesn't care about anything.
A tornado can drive a straw into a tree, or tear a man's heart out of his chest and show it to him before he dies.
Sure it sucks when a tornado destroys your home, but the best thing to do is get over yourself and your own problems for a minute, get some perspective, and look at all the cool stuff the tornado accomplished!
(That's a rough paraphrase of a thing a kid I went to high school with wrote back in the day, and it's always stuck with me, especially that last part).
I love violent weather - but hate the destruction. I've been in 2 tornadoes and it was awesome. The first one I had no idea what it was but the wind was "stinging" me as I walked into the edge of the tornado which was one city block away. Had I looked up, I would have seen it, but I was walking backwards because of the stinging. The destruction was sad, although thankfully it missed some landmark buildings - it literally hopped over.
That same night driving home next to the bay, I got to see 3 waterspouts dancing on the bay. What an awesome, beautiful sight (and no destruction).
15 years ago, we had a tornado in our side yard. The only damage was to a large tent we had rented and were waiting for the company to take it down. The tent poles, huge 2" diameter pipes were bent in half, some mangled around others. I will not forget the noise of those 2 tornadoes.
I love the movie Twister. I've only seen it 3 times and each time, I sit on the edge of my seat. And there's a movie called StormChasers -- I LOVE it.
There is a wildfire burning 7 miles away from me...I think I would rather have a tornado.
