Hey everyone, I'm planning a trip to Boston and to make the most of my time, I'm considering a hop-on hop-off tour. I've narrowed it down to two options: Old Town Trolley and Boston Sightseeing.
Here's the breakdown:
Old Town Trolley: Seems to be the more popular choice, with great reviews mentioning frequent stops, knowledgeable guides, and a money-back guarantee.
Boston Sightseeing: Less info online, but offers open-top buses (potentially for better views?)
My dilemma: Is Old Town Trolley's popularity worth the potential higher price? Or is bostonsightseeing.us a hidden gem with a better value?
Anyone with experience on either tour? I'd love to hear your thoughts on:
Overall experience: How was the tour route, commentary, and ease of hopping on and off?
Value for money: Did you feel the price was justified for what you got?
Open-top vs. Trolley: Did the type of vehicle make a big difference in your enjoyment?
Trying to decide between convenience and potentially better views. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
I have no experience with either tour. But based on a quick review of travel sites, Boston Sightseeing was mostly criticized for not having enough buses or room on buses so passengers had to wait for long periods of time to get back on the bus. This is a common complaint for hop on/hop off buses. They work better if you just want to stay on the bus for the entire loop to get a general tour of the city or maybe if you sightsee very early in the day. Another complaint about Boston Sightseeing was that the travel guide portion of the ride was usually a recording and not live.
